I know the flack Im going to get for even talking about this from some of my friends, but how did Glee get so awful? I know, a lot of it is autotuned, adjusted, studio-room performances, but some of them are really powerful pieces. See Rachels Being Good, Rain on My Parade and Kurts Being Alive. The latter is arguably stronger than any Broadway performance of the piece Ive ever heard. Yes, its full of terrible storylines, but we watch it (I imagine) because most episodes have a good piece, a really interesting take on a classic or a modern pop song thats fun. This whole season has been utter garbage. The whole Death of Finn episode was sad and heart-breaking, but mostly because you could see the actual impact of it through the characters, despite their attempts to act, it clearly hurt. But musically? Not a single episode I havent wanted to shut off yet. Ugh. I know, Im getting what Im asking for, but did they change producers or something? This whole Katy/Gaga thing? Its not a thing. Nobody cares about it. I realize that I probably just outed myself as 42% gay. Thats okay, Im in a rock band.
