I know there seems to be a lot of negative remarks about Amador - TopicsExpress

I know there seems to be a lot of negative remarks about Amador lately and many are not happy that its not the same as years past. I truly apologize that we had to change our trout stocking program from the once in-house raised Amabows that were stocked everyday, to the current situation of buying fish from Lassen and stocking once a week. The reality of the situation is that we have endured 3 consecutive years of drought in California and have a beautiful Lake that is consistently only half full. We havent spilled over since 2011 and last year, the highest level we saw the lake reach was still 30 from being full. Due to the drought we were forced to shut our Trout Farm down for the first time in 25 years which was another blow to the gut, but out of all this we are still trying to stay afloat. We started this season 60 from full with a single lane launch ramp and no dock to use, predictably business was off to a slow start. A bit scary when you have so much money invested in trout contracted to buy and only a handful of fishermen show up. Yes we have cut our stocking program in half considering we had, and still have no idea what type of rainfall to expect for this winter season. Imagine being bound by contract to buy $300k worth of trout to plant in a mud puddle with no business, the decision to cut back kind of made itself........... Not trying to sob story or look for sympathy in any way, just stating the facts and hoping for some type of understanding from those who find it necessary to badmouth Lake Amador. Yes times have changed but not due to anything other than environmental conditions none of us can control.
