What do you give your babies for heartworm and flea protection? Rory has been taking Trifexis for at least a year now and has been fine, but all of these horror stories are scaring me. I asked my vet for her opinion and got this answer: Like any drug there are going to be adverse reactions in some patients. Elanco has sold more than 50 million doses of Trifexis and they are required to report complaints to the FDA. According to FDA records, pet owners have reported 700 dog deaths but none have been proven to be because of Trifexis. Several had underlying medical conditions. Our doctors here still use Trifexis in their own pets. If you have concerns about the safety, there are many other products you can use instead of Trifexis. We also recommend Heartgard for heartworm prevention with Frontline Plus topical or Nexgard an oral chew for fleas and ticks. -- Should I switch Rory to one of these? Connie - whats your opinion?
