I know this is 100% real talk. We continue to feed, cloth, educate, and provide so many other RELIEF EFFORTS and do our DUTIES AS HUMANITARIANS for the LESS FORTUNATE of the world. Where are the RELIEF EFFORTS for the millions of unemployed Americans. Whether it be a result of job outsourcing, madatory company layoffs, the hundreds of thousands, if not millions of various Construction workers of all kinds. Including Masonry, which is the only type of work my husband has ever done for the past 20+years, whose lives have been turned upside down by the crash in real estate and budget cuts that brought the building of new schools to a sudden halt approx. 4-5 years ago. The union companies my husband worked for relied upon the building of new schools. So when that tanked, my husband had to leave the union to work for smaller companies doing primarily remodels and the occasional new home. Then approx.3 years the failing economy and banks had all but brought that to a halt to leaving my husband no choice but to use the unemployment benefits he had worked his fingers to the bone paying into over the years. But what family of 6 (2 parents 3 teenage boys and a pre-teen daughter) can survive off $1,200/month? Especially when the car keeps breaking down and then the UE benefits run out just as the family car finally dies...FOR GOOD. And with no transportation or financial means to get one that same family then goes from struggling to make ends meet w/the $1,200/Mo UE benefits to feeling like one of those families in some 3rd world country our Govt is so passionate about providing RELIEF EFFORTS to trying to create miracles w/the now EVEN MORE BLEAK $320 PER MONTH TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE for NEEDY FAMILIES for a family of now only 5. My husband has NEVER had a problem working but now his body is retaliating requiring him to have a major back surgery. Which at his first appt w/ surgeon he was told he will never be able to go back to masonry or any other job hes qualified for and he strongly recommended he apply for SSI/DISABILITY. So there. Goes. The family bread winner. Leaving myself; a. Longtime sufferer of chronic fatigue/ pain as result of being diagnosed w/ RA(also an auto immune disease as well as a form of arthritis) -Sjogrens syndrome-spinal stenosis-fibromyalgia-and my most recent/scary diagnosis of Lupus. So Im also battling to get my own SSI/DISABILITY benefits, which everyone knows can take years. Our $320/month isnt cutting it. Yes there are pantries and Thanks giving dinner help, and even a program to make sure there are donated presents under tree Christmas morning but guess what mail correspondence isnt sufficient to get family registered so with no car poor physical health and no phone during registraction period we were unable to signup and getkids on local angel tree. Im sure there are a million+++ other AMERICAN FAMILIES who Can relate to the story of my family. And. FYI our household # dropped b/c my son will be leaving soon for US ARMY bootcamp . So to our overpaid politians and to you also Mr. President.... WHERE IS THE HUMANITARIAN RELIEF AND THE RIGHT TO FOOD , RUNNING WATER, AND ELECTRICITY EVERYONE SHOULD. HAVE ACCESS TO DESPITE LIVING IN AN IMPOVERISHED COUNTRY? that you in Washington believe in so passionately? Or. All u Hollywood do gooders? HOW ABOUT THROWING A LIFE LINE TO THOSE IN YOUR OWN BACK YARD.
