I know to some of you Im weird but these things , these memories of these journeys keep me up to see many moons some people get deer fever only at certain times I keep it all year long I was born to hunt , I love it I live it . The funny thing is it chose me I didnt choose it . I can hardly wait to take my oldest daughter tree rat hunting in two Saturdays . The great thing is reliving the hunts good or bad and its funny in the beginning it was based on the kill now its on the expierances and the journey although the kill is nice to . The other thing in reliving the hunts it makes the world timeless I still remember the good ol days when I had two of my three biggest male role models which both are ghosts of the past for different reasons . My dad taught me a lot about being a woodsman the rest I learned on my own . My uncle David Forrest I couldnt wait for you and dad to pick me up from school so I could get dressed in the back of your truck on the way to the woods and of course carry yours and dads stands and deer out lol. The last person if you read this you will know who you are. In the beginning after my father passed you were really the only person who would take me hunting the fun thing was you were still a rookie like myself . I remember the day before the shotgun opener Nov 2000 you came and picked me up from school so we could go scout a woods for the next morning . I remember we get to the woods the next morning and you forgot your ammo and had to drive back to town to get it and I told ya I would have a couple down by the time you got back and I did. I remember you goin to find my buck that morning I went to school for me and you did. I remember waiving you down the fence and watching you kill your first deer on thanksgiving morning , we really put the hurt on them that morning laid down 4 in that field . I remember you taking me to those military hunts and Im sure you remember me going boom boom boom and filling up your truck with some nice bucks those days. I remember all those hunts even the one in Aterbury lets just say toot! You know what Im talking about and probably one you wont forget a doe so big we couldnt drag her together and I went Rambo and killed her with your gun . Anyways I will always be that little boy you took hunting and I will always be greatful to you for that I still love you we are always family in my heart your long lost brother Travis
