I know we have been going on and on about the mail.. Counselors gave us a list of those Candidates who stated they are receiving little or no mail. In order to help make sure all were on the same page, Boosters called a few homes to encourage families to write more and made sure they had the correct address and answer any questions they might of had. In order to make sure we reached everyone on our list, we also sent encouraging letters home as well. Our goal, to reach out to those whose Candidates put their names on the list. The names on the list, could mean: They are receiving mail, but want more. They have received mail for a few days and a few days with no mail, and they would like to receive some daily. They havent received mail. They just wanted us to reach out to their homes. Some needed mentor info Some needed parents info The list goes on and on on why they might of put their name on the list. Some families were confused and didnt know they could write during the first few weeks. Some only wrote once or twice and said they would write more. Some werent writing due to tough love in the beginning. Some wanted their child to appreciate home and think about things before they wrote. Some had the wrong address. Some sent things to the Booster PO Box. The list of reasons goes on and on, just like the Candidates had their reasons for putting their name on the list. Our primary goal, especially in the beginning, is to make sure that all are on the same page. Another heartfelt goal ..to assist the parents and Candidates with needs that arise. The important thing to remember is...If you are writing..they will and do receive your support. Sunburst has no control over how long it takes your letters to reach their PO Box in Los Alamitos. The mail gets picked up Monday thru Friday (Saturdays as well). The mail is sorted and handed out each night. So whatever they picked up at the PO Box that day, gets handed out that night. Mail is like Gold and is never held back (they do have set times to read and write letters). We understand the concerns you have when we reach out asking for more mail for the Candidates..especially when you are writing and they are saying they arent getting it...We are parents..we LOVE your child as well. We are Boosters because of your children, they hold a special place in our hearts. We are here to help.. Again, if you are writing..they will receive it.
