I know, youre going to say that motorcycles are dangerous, and people die on them and you know what...you are very correct. People die on motorcycles the same way they die in cars, on skiis, on riding lawnmowers, roller blades etc etc. But I can tell you one thing, that while Mitch and I were riding along that river in Niagara Falls on a day that appeared to be spring, the sensation is basically indescribable. The wind blowing against you, as you enter the future and depart from the past. You are in that suspended moment on a vehicle that gives you the sensation of riding a magic carpet. The sound of the Harley exhaust that is directly ahead of you puts you in a state of trance where you become one with the bike. Like a bird soaring in the air, you are able to clear your head of all those silly things that accumulate and bring you down a little during the week. You forget where you are for a brief moment and cherish the time you still have to ride, before inches and feet of that white stuff forbids us to ride any longer. You stop for coffee at a popular spot where other riders are gathered. You exchange some words, sip your coffee, and when youre done, back in the saddle like a cowboy on his horse. I hope that the winter comes and goes quickly and we find ourselves taking the covers off of our cherished motorcycles and embrace another season of joyful riding. Fear not the dangers of that motorcycles can present, but embrace that joyous experience of soaring like a bird.
