I learned from browsing the Tameside archive that Ronnie Hazlehurst was a former pupil at St. John’s Church of England Primary School and Hyde County Grammar School. He was an English composer and conductor who, having joined the BBC in 1961, became its Light Entertainment Musical Director. He wrote theme tunes and incidental music for Last of the Summer Wine, To the Manor Born, Yes Minister, Reggie Perrin, Only Fools and Horses and The Two Ronnies among others. He was born the son of a railway worker and piano teacher at 169 Lodge Lane in Dukinfield in 1928. A blue plaque was unveiled there in 2009. He died on October 2007 at Saint Martin, Guernsey
