I learned something interesting about my paternal grandfather whom I have never met: He was a JOURNEYMAN... I knew he was woodworker (Danish snedker) by profession. But what I did not know was that he learned his trade as a traditional journeyman (Danish naver) -- complete with the journeyman costume consisting of black bell bottom pants and vest, white shirt, black broad brimmed hat, and a walking staff -- and like any other journeyman in Europe, he travelled extensively throughout the continent offering his services in exchange for food and lodging.
