I learned two important lessons today simply by going into the bookstore. What are these lessons, you say? 1) I am NOT accustomed to todays music and 2) I cant seem to hear very well. Heres how the story goes: Anna and I were in Books a Million this afternoon and she was picking out a new book. I was looking around and the song playing over the speakers caught my attention. I couldnt make out the verses, but it was evidently a very heart-felt song because of the way the artist was singing. And then the chorus came. Help me pull my britches down. WHAT IN THE WORLD DID I JUST HEAR?? I stopped right in the middle of the aisle and, lo and behold, I heard it again! Anna walked up at the time and I said Anna! Listen to this song! She heard the chorus as well and said Yeah. Whats wrong? WHATS WRONG?? Are you kidding me?? Didnt you hear that boy say Help me pull my britches down? Anna just looked at me and said.... Mom. He was saying Help me BURN my BRIDGES down . Yeah...I dont get todays music and I SURELY cant hear. Glad I didnt complain to the management!!
