I left Abuja this morning for Shendam in Plateau state. My mission there was to join His lordship; Bishop Emmanuel Jatau as he paid his last respect to his father in-law; Baba Philemon Longwus who died at the age of 83. It was an interesting adventure as I was told that we were going to pass through Lafia-Assakio... and all that was on my mind was to have a personal look at Assakio where many people where killed few weeks ago. Before Assakio, I was shown a pathway that leads to Alakyo... on that pathway I saw bloodstains of out security men crying for justice. Assakio, I met a ghost town, I saw humanism crude and violent nature breathing in the air. I saw hatred and terror dinning freely from a bowl of cruelty and despair. I saw soldiers who were looking for slightest opportunity to press the trigger. I just arrived Abuja. Thank you Assakio, I saw what violence has reduced you into, I saw how helpless you are, I saw your mosques and churches untouched, which made me conclude that what inspired your current state of shame is not religious but tribal and political. Ooooh Assakio! WHO DID THIS TO YOU? GOD HELP NIGERIA!
