I left at 9:45 Friday morning--back at 2 AM Saturday morning. The new rental car, which had 992 miles on it, now has 1,651. So, Ive driven 659 miles (or 1,060.56 kilometers, Elida) today. Yes, to pick up a dog...in a thunderstorm,,,in terrible construction...having both phones go out on the way to Dallas. And it was great fun. Against all odds, I really like this car. So did Umi, after we got her in it. She was very nervous and shaky, but after she had a big glass of water and a burger at McDonalds, she went to sleep and felt great. She also loved the Sirius radio... Hm. Now Im sleepy. But this is not a remedy one can use for insomnia every day. I knew I was too tired to be driving when I realized that I had never measured another cars time from 0-110 miles an hour. (And those of you who mutter, Well, they wouldnt even notice that in Texas--try to remember that they have a higher standard now that my mother isnt driving there any more. And that I havent had a speeding ticket in Harrys lifetime, Im so obsessive. I was just tired and wanted to be home--instantly.) Thanks for all the good wishes! Were all going to sleep now--whether we intend to or not... :)
