I like almonds. At my house Nancy always has a bowl of almonds out for guests. In Gods house, He always has almonds for His guests too! Look at the lampstand in the sanctuary. ==== Exodus 37:18-19 ==== There were six branches going out of its sides; three branches of the lampstand from the one side of it and three branches of the lampstand from the other side of it; three cups shaped like ALMOND blossoms, a bulb and a flower in one branch, and three cups shaped like almond blossoms, a bulb and a flower in the other branch--so for the six branches going out of the lampstand. ======================= ==== Numbers 8:2 ==== Speak to Aaron and say to him, When you mount the lamps, the seven lamps will give light in the front of the lampstand. =================== ==== Jeremiah 1:11-12 ==== The word of the LORD came to me saying, What do you see, Jeremiah? And I said, I see a rod of an ALMOND tree. Then the LORD said to me, You have seen well, for I am watching over My word to perform it. ======================= The ALMOND tree is literally in Hebrew, “the watchful or wakeful tree,” because it awakes from the sleep of winter earlier than the other trees, flowering in January, and bearing fruit in March. The almond tree is symbolic of God watching over His own Word to hasten its fulfillment. The almond has a place at the very heart of the house of God in the lampstand. When the lamp gives light, the oil flows through the almond blossoms. God the Holy Spirit is carefully watching over His word to perform it and to hasten its fulfillment. Gods people should be like Jeremiah. We should see well! Each of us should watch with God in His word. When we do, God works His purposes through both his servants and His word at the same time. If we do not abide in His word and work, God will still work out His purposes and fulfill His word, but He will find other servants, and we will experience loss. ===== John 8:31 ===== So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine. ===================
