I like bears, not sure why that is so, but I feel a special bond with them. That said, though I hate seeing a bear killed the man had a right to do what he did and in the long run may have saved lives. In Florida we have a problem with people who treat alligators like pets, they feed them and start to think of them as their own overgrown, gentle lizard that never harms anyone. At some point the gator gets use to humans, sees them as a source of food, they become the snack. This bear most likely had become to use to people, which made it a greater threat than most bears. Some neighbor said they were more afraid of guns than bears, that person is a greater threat to the safety of wildlife than any gun will ever be.
