I like how this incident shows that this increasingly knee-jerk inclination to call something out as racist (when youve just chosen to take offense without first investigating the origin and context of the comment) actually does get in the way of calling out actual abusive, racist, prejudiced behavior (i.e. the fact that Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder has named his pro-Native American charity using an anti-Native American slur). When intentions are accounted for, a silly or politically incisive or humorous or even simply uninformed comment can be quite distinct from a malicious and abusive one.
