I like that gratitude challenge thing, and my friend Joe M Lamb - TopicsExpress

I like that gratitude challenge thing, and my friend Joe M Lamb just posted the greatest list ever, practically, in response to it: I am grateful that babies know how to love, even before they know how to talk. I am grateful that carbon holds hands with oxygen. I am grateful for anyone who turns on the tap in their kitchen and doesn’t take running water for granted. I am grateful for people who respond to their personal suffering by committing acts of kindness. I am grateful that, even when hypnotized by the ceaseless spectacle pouring out of our screens, we can still be struck dumb by a wildflower. I am grateful for everyone who works to preserve a world that includes elephants, wild rivers, and a climate where peace is possible, if not for us, then for our children. I am grateful for, among many others, Rhett Butler, Toner Mitchell, and Anna Goldstein. I am grateful for freedom of religion, for freedom of scientific inquiry, and for freedom of thought. I am grateful for the symmetry of the Periodic Table, the courage of Giordano Bruno, and the poetry of Li Po. I am grateful for the people who refuse to worship the god of money, and for the people who refuse to worship the god of war. I am grateful for poets who teach us how to care, and how not to care. I am deeply, profoundly grateful for everyone who who make a good faith effort to love their enemy. I am grateful for the little rooster who believes his crowing makes the sun rise up in the sky; I am grateful for the woman who collects the eggs.
