I like to share something that maybe some wont share but It may encourage some or help one of my friends or one of yours. So here goes. 5 years ago today I was a very sick man in Toronto. After drinking everyday since I was a young fellow,my body had enough and was shutting down.Elizabeth my dear friend who is not with us anymore had given my wife some info on a detox centre. I decided I wanted and had to stay alive for my wife,my son and my stepson James and myself. The only way that could happen I had to give up the booze. I had lots of great times with my friends drinking,but most drank on weekends that was it. I drank in days that Ended in Y which was killing me. With the help and encouragement of my family I decided to attend the detox centre in Mississauga.I never had a clue what was going to become of this. My dear son and Cathy went with me to the centre and I finished my last beer in the parking lot. Christopher said dad you can do this. I want you to do this. With tears in our eyes I told them to leave and I went in. Today I am happy to say that was my last beer. I have 5 years sobriety today and I owe it all to my family and friends. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. I love you all. I am so grateful. Today is the last day of our shift. Its a big snowstorm here in Labrador today. I hope we can fly home tonight but if not tomorrow is another day.I have a lot to celebrate when I get home to my family. God bless and have a safe and happy day my friends.
