I like to walk to the gym. Last week, on my way over there, I made a stop at the bank first, so I arrived at the gym carrying a folder of papers (nothing very sensitive). I asked the young man at the front desk if I could leave it there while I did my workout, and he said sorry but no, the company has a policy of avoiding responsibility for peoples personal items. I said okay, and went on my way. I walked to the gym again today. It rained, so I brought an umbrella. Despite how funny it would have looked, I did not want to carry it everywhere during my workout - but there was no reason to think that trying to dump it on the front desk like last time would have yielded any different outcome. I entered the gym and went up to front desk. Same guy was there. This time, I asked a different question. Do you guys have a lost and found? Yes, we do! Great. Holding up umbrella, Could you put this in there, please? He had seen me walk in with it, so he correctly assumed it was mine. Um, actually, were not supposed to hold on to it. Im aware of that. But if you dont put it in there now, Im just going to leave it right by a treadmill, where people will notice it, while I go on with the rest of my workout. Chances are good that somebody will pick it up and bring it here to you guys, as people tend to do when they find misplaced items. Given the likelihood of this eventuality, dont you think it would be better if we just got on with it? He sighed and took my umbrella. Total Sklansky right there. #DUCY
