I listened to this program and I though the speaker did a masterful job of saying nothing about the really destructive influence of the private and charter schools that are failing every year and costing Wisconsin tax payers millions of tax dollars. Diane Ravitch has written an article on her blog exposing the fact that Wisconsin taxpayers wasted $139 million on failed voucher schools. There are some private schools and maybe some charter voucher schools that are doing fine but the problem is that students in poor areas will have their funding cut because even if they were to be accepted at a voucher school they can be sent back to the public schools if they start to fail but the voucher school would keep the students public money. Then there is another article on the net, Education is now a 650 billion dollar for industry, wall street, venture capitalists, and for the rich to invest in and reduce their income tax. Also we dont know who makes up their curriculum and what about the teachers background and education. The point is parents need public oversight over who works closely with their children
