I lived the first four years of my life in Hazel Park at 736 E. George. My parents grew up here and graduated from HPHS, three of my grandparents worked for the Hazel Park School system, all my great grandparents lived here at one point, some right after immigrating to the US. My older sisters went to Beecher and although I grew up in Southfield, we were in Hazel Park every single week, sometimes more, to spend time with family. Hazel Park always felt like home so when my now-husband and I were looking for a new place, we opted for Hazel Park over Ferndale (where Id lived for 6 years) due to the affordability of H.P., its proximity to my grandmother while she was still alive, and easy access to freeways. I am really happy we did! Weve been here four years this November. Anyway, if anyone has any (nice) memories of the Takacs or Luther families, Id love to hear your stories.
