I look across the room at the elderly man sitting in the armchair. - TopicsExpress

I look across the room at the elderly man sitting in the armchair. Hes wearing my fathers clothes and face, although his chin is stubbly from lack of shaving, but hes not my Dad. He fidgets with his handkerchief, twisting it round and round in his hands; hes agitated and gets up and starts fussing around the drawers in the sideboard. What are you doing Dad? - Looking for the car keys - Why? - I have to go, I have customers to see - Its okay Dad, they rang to cancel, come and sit down My Dad hasnt had customers to see for over 40 years. My Dad has dementia. There are about 5000 people in the UK with what the Americans call ALS; in 2012 it was estimated that 800,000 people had dementia and by 2021 around 1,000,000 will have some form of dementia. So please dont challenge me to throw an ice bucket over my head - why not sponsor me on The Memory Walk instead? https://justgiving/helen-janes-memory-walk
