I look at my dogs as my family i dont know what I would do without any of them, they each have their own personality and own ways of cheering me up. There is nothing I wouldnt do for any of them. Its not just because two of them help me with my health its because of the unconditional love they show Me, Carol, and my mom.... and most times who ever comes in our house. Our neighbor Judy lost one of her beloved cats of 19 years tonight peacefully in her arms. She asked if we thought she was silly for crying , and as we all were wiping our tears of sorrow from our faces for her loss we said you are far from silly your cats are like family just like our dogs are. With that being said how is it that people can just drop dogs off at the shelter or turn them loose when the new or puppy wears off. Our oldest dog is 12 going on 13 and our youngest is 2. Our oldest dog we got when we were walking through an indiana shelter just looking at the dogs and puppies they had to pass time. We came to a kennel that had a little black ball of fur huddled in the corner. The kennel had a red tag on it. I asked what that meant and they said that poor puppy is scheduled to be put down tomorrow morning. She was 6 months old and the previous owner had beat her with a chain so much all her ribs were broke. You could tell in her eyes she was scared , sad, confused, and needed some love so bad. We persuaded the worker to let us have her if we promised to get her vetted and mended back to health. Now that same dog that was huddled in the corner is an 80lb half chow half akita that is the biggest lap dog you ever wanted to meet and just wants to kiss everyone she sees. Our Maddie is a rescued puppy mill dog, and our Tye is a full blooded dog that someone spent over 1200 dollars on at a pet store then when paid off decided they didnt want. Dawson and Lilly are the only full blooded animals we have by choice and thats just because they are the breed my doctor recommended for us. Why am I telling you this ??? Because believe it or not there are people out there who just think of their dogs or cats as property, items, possessions that when they are done with can just be thrown out or dropped off at a shelter. I wonder how sad of a life these people must live to never truly know the love of a dog or cat because it takes more than just a year or two to know the animals it takes the life time of the animal long after the new wears off , the puppy grows up. Dogs and Cats have feelings , they love, they hurt just like us.... They have good days and they have bad days too just like us. Just my rant of the day sorry everyone just in a mood today!
