I looked up the definition of anxious on merriam webster online. Found the most interesting essay in the comments. Even if you dont believe in the Christian slant, its nicely done! This was written by an individual, not the website/Merriam Webster. merriam-webster/dictionary/anxious Anxious’ in being is a spiritual function. Anxiety has been declared by mankind as a human function. Synonyms for anxious is for one to be energized, eager, enthusiastic, attentive and glowing. Synonyms for anxiety is for one being tense, pensive, weak, fearful and paralyzed. Now if your profession or interest was in the field of cuesports, you definitely would wish to know more about this; as many did when they came to my dear friend Fredric Fechter for answers to many things in cuesports and life. For in the fine dimensions of cuesports, a good player knows that only a quiver of movement of the body, stroke or an invalid thought in one’s mind can result in missing a shot. For years, this appeared to be a very common request among students wishing to know how to overcome anxiety. Observed that they all did and left happy. :) Anxiety is actually just a heightened state of alertness, connected with an anxious desire to succeed. Therefore, it is actually healthy to be anxious. We can say, it is alright to be anxious as long as we are not timid. Timidity is a fear of appearing anxious, and it gives rise to a desire to stifle and cover up the anxiety. Anxiety can be accepted as something positive and timidity can be refused as something cowardly, unproductive, and self-indulgent. It is always good to know the enemy, for then we can see what the real issues are. Timid individuals often blame anxiety for their suffering; but if they realized that the foe is timidity hiding behind anxiety, then they can simply refuse to be timid and the whole problem disappears. Anxiety is an eagerness to do well. Timidity is a desire not to feel bad. “God hath not given us the spirit of fear [timidity]; but of power, and of love, and of sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7) Thus we do not have to be against anxiety. We can make friends with anxiety. We must learn to understand and welcome it as a heightened state of alertness which makes creative responsiveness more available. :) • In the final analysis, all problems require us to come to understand the substance in truth of being and our self identity as individual expressions of God. :)
