I lost another friend to cancer early this morning. She was a year younger than me with a loving family, and two small children. She was witty, poetic, warm, and so incredibly kind. I loved her dearly. Im thankful that she knew it. Two young mothers passed away of the same disease months apart. Over the past two+ years I spoke to each of the other. They, in turn, would each ask me regularly about the other. When Mahsa died, Carey and I sat in her garden and cried together. She told me she could feel Mahsas presence. That day, she also told me that she was scared. At a time when there is so much joy and celebration, all I feel in the pit of my stomach is grief. For her incredible family. For me. For all of us.
