I love Christ because He loved me first. I love you because you showed me just how much Christ loved me. When I look into your eyes, I see a reflection of myself. Not because we are so much alike, but quite the opposite. And not what I always want to see. Where my strengths are valued, and my weaknesses handled with gentleness, forgiveness, and humility, even at your expense. You have not only made me a better woman, but a stronger woman of faith. How could God not love me when I see an example of His infinite love for me daily? Through sickness and through health, for better or for worse… Smudged eye liner, runny mascara, hair all over my head, doubled over in pain. A sight not wanting to be seen. No make-up, t-shirt, boxers, ponytail covered by bandana. And you keep telling me how beautiful I am. Through life’s uncertainties, struggles, and unpleasant experiences where our world has been seemingly turned upside down… One thing is true, one thing remains, just as I can count on our Heavenly Father, I can always count on God in you. You are sure/certain. You are strong. You are immovable. You are brilliant. You are beautiful. You are handsome. You are incredible. You are amazing! Thank you for choosing me, rough edges and all, imperfections and all, to be your lawfully wedded wife 6 years ago; and in the eyes of the One who brought us together and keeps us together, for eternity.
