I love Frankenstein. I used to think of Frankenstein as science - TopicsExpress

I love Frankenstein. I used to think of Frankenstein as science fiction but then as I read it for the first time (around the age of thirteen) I realized there was a lot more to it than a scientist reanimating the dead. Victor found his secret in the works of Paracelsus and Agrippa, an Alchemist and a sorcerer. The Creature was also extremely spiritual. Theres a fine line between science fiction, horror and fantasy. Also the films always focus on the idea that Victors greatest crime was playing God and creating life. No, I didnt get that out of the novel at all. I felt Victors biggest sin was rejecting his creation, not being there to teach and guide him. A lot of it had to do with parental responsibility and the importance of forgiveness and how revenge ultimately only brings destruction to all involved. Heres the best adaptation I have ever seen, for book accuracy. youtube/watch?v=B45VJXmLRIM
