I love days off - especially when the sun is shining, there is - TopicsExpress

I love days off - especially when the sun is shining, there is virtually no wind whatsoever, and Ive had to retrieve my summer shorts yet again from their winter hiding place under the bed. After lunch, having finished my chores, I set out in the glorious warm autumnal sunshine under a blue sky; a flat sea glinting in the distance and St George hanging limply against the flagpole on the church. Bliss - total Lundy bliss … I made my way down past the Tavern to Millcombe Valley, a veritable sun trap on such a day. I sat on one of the seats there to think, to contemplate life in all its rich abundance whilst I watched countless bees making busy on the flourish of late summer Fuschias - those bees own harvest home …….. and it was there and then that the peace and tranquility of Utopia ended … As many of you know, when it comes to Church Bells and the ringing thereof I have my own opinion, but when combined with those who this afternoon arrived by air this reached previously unattained heights. Two aerial visitors in (on?) a winged double McClaren baby buggy the engine of which seemed intent of trying to force its pistons through the cylinder head, and another with a high revving under-silenced chainsaw engine strapped to his/her back. Their obvious intention became clear when I finally realised that they were circling ad infintum for my benefit in order to drown out the sound of the bells. They seemed intent on flying round and round and round and round and round and round with one intention only - and this was to see which of them might run out of fuel first (oh that they had) and whether perhaps they could actually circle forever and a day without ever running out of fuel rather than land … Aww … bless em … Not to worry, its the Oldenburg and work tomorrow …
