I love how Facebook asks me whats on my mind..... so here is it..... Over the years of horse ownership one of the things I wonder about is; why people dont understand horses are individuals. Years ago I had a few off the track Thoroughbreds. Friends with Quarter Horses would make remarks how nutty they are. They did not understand these horses are bred to run and spent their entire life learning to race? It takes time to teach them their new job as maybe a jumper or a hunter...... and maybe they will never give up on their forward way of thinking but respect that is just what they were meant to do. I had a Quarter horse and I never expected her to jump 4 but she was an amazing trail horse and western pleasure horse. I respected her for what she was meant to do. Having Warmbloods currently, I own them because they possess the talent to do the job I want them to do. I didnt buy a trail horse and they are much more sensitive to their environment than my little Quarter Horse of the past. I respect them and work with them to be as domesticated as possible but know they are bred to be competition horses... You never know what a horse is capable of but they have limitations and are all different.
