I love how articulate Rashard Mendenhall was in this thoughtful piece. He is so right about how the NFL has become a league filled with a bunch of individuals playing solely to increase their celebrity status and fame. I would personally take it a step further and make the statement that this behavior extends far beyond the NFL and is very prevalent in other sports as well. We, as a community, really need to rethink how we celebrate today’s sports professionals if only for the sake of our children’s perception on the value of sports. We also really need to applaud Rashard for standing up and being vocal about an ever growing problem so that we can hopefully make a change before we lose the true essence of professional sports. huffingtonpost/rashard-mendenhall/rashard-mendenhall-retirement-_b_4931316.html
