I love how so many people compare us to other "democracies" and complain about us not providing healthcare (until now) or other entitlements. Well lets get a few things straight. 1. We are a republic, not a democracy. Democracies never end well and our founding fathers knew that. A democracy is mob rule. 2. We became the greates nation on earth by being the freest nation on earth. We used to be about opportunities not outcomes. Failure is essential to success but we will no longer allow anyone to fail. 3. We used to turn to our families, friends, and churches for help. Now we go straight to Uncle Sam. 4. We used to have shame. We asked for help with our heads down and a vow to repay. Now we feel entitled to whatever we think we deserve. 5. We used to think character mattered. While our politicians were never perfect at least they would hide their sins. Now they garner votes. 6. We used to look up to the successful person. Now we are jealous and tear them down. We used to be the greates country in the world. We might still be, but the margin of our lead has shrunk. We can regain what we have lost if we return to a nation of personal rights and personal responsibility.
