I love it when college advocates point out that a black person with a college degree will earn twice as much over their lifetime than someone without a college degree. Well, thats only IF the degreed person finds employment and IF the non-degreed isnt taught to navigate society without one (do you know how much master plumbers make?). This is our situation. Weve stuck too many of our children in the college job seeking model, and not enough in the trade/entrepreneurship model. Theres an Asian owned corner store in Stop Six that made over a million dollars last year. The owner doesnt have an MBA. HE DIDNT STUDY BUSINESS, HE STUDIED BLACK FOLK. We letting potential million dollar store owners fall to the wayside in favor of college bound job seekers. Our non college students should be molded into the entrepreneurs that will hire our college bound students! Were calling for excellence on all levels! Lets shift the paradigm!
