I love it when people say evolution is just a theory, like that some how makes it not true. Obviously they have no concept of the scientific method or peer review. To just be a theory it first starts as a hypothesis or a guess as to what is true. Then that hypothesis has to have been proven through scientific analysis to be true. The results have to be published so that others may also test the theory. If at any point there is an inconsistency the hypothesis is revisited and the process begins again. Once a hypothesis and the scientific data supporting the hypothesis has been through a peer review (other scientists testing your published hypothesis) and the hypothesis proven to be correct by others recreating the experiment and attempting to find flaws in the analysis or the experiment then and only then is it a theory. So if something is just a theory, you can damn well bet more thought and effort was put into it than the statement from person who wants to discredit or marginalize something by saying it is just a theory.
