I love it when scriptures that I have read over and over suddenly seems new and fresh as I read it with a different level of understanding! Today as I was listening to my daily scripture reading, I was so very blessed by Psalm 23. The Lord is MY shepherd!! I was able to see the heart of this comparison with new appreciation. He cares for my coming and going and stands watch over me with vigilance. He will lead me to places of refreshment and protection. He is constant and watchful and fully aware of where I am and what I am doing. He doesnt seek to punish me for wrongdoing, but knows that I need to learn from my mistakes and foolishness. He is there to step in if I wander too far or if I encounter an enemy. He will fight for me, discipline me when needed, and be tender with me in my weakness. I SHALL NOT BE AFRAID! Because of His protection, I can walk freely about and not fear the perils that exist outside the boundaries of His watchful eye. Yet I can choose, by my actions and attitudes, to put myself in danger. If I wander away from Him, I put myself in peril and will most definitely encounter the difficulties and consequences of my choices. Yet when I wander, He is faithful to pursue my heart! What an amazing look at Gods love for us!!
