I love music as most of you may have guessed by now. It has always been a form of therapy, venting and freedom for me. From the early days in rehabilitation after my spinal cord injury, through lonely days in a dead marriage and through clinical depression. Music has always spoke to my soul and gave me an out. The music I love most is the music delivered by those with passion. Many musician are passionate about their music. As most of us are about the things we love. Then there are those who stand out “break the mold” so to speak. There are a hand full of men singers who fit this bill for me in my world. And there are a hand full of woman singers who really move me with their voice and passion. The words they sing go right through me and in a real sense touch my soul. For me some of the woman singers who’s songs and voice got me through some of the hardest years of my life are: Jennifer Knapp, Alanis Morissette, Amy Lee (Amy Lynn Hartzler), Paula Cole and Natalie Merchant. Powerful passionate voices touching and blessing the world. But they are the untouchable superstars. Then there is this little lady from somewhereville nj. Mary Niewola, belting out her heart and soul every week with different gig’s living her passion and it shows. I don’t get to hear her sing that often but when I do I am reminded of how important it is to not lose site of our passions. And try our best to live it and sing our hearts out in our own way every day. My dream for Mary is that she gets to sing for great multitudes of people and blow them away with her powerful, passionate voice. Success is not performing for the multitude. It’s living your dream and in that touching one soul at a time and giving that soul the gift of experiencing your gift. The band tonight rocked the house as always. A group of hard working passionate musicians who may even have other full time work but choose to free them selves through their music till all hours of the night on their days off. And in that free those of us who go see them perform. Well worth the hour and five drive for me. MLC.. keep rockin.. Mary Niewola be encouraged as you pursue your passion your gift will make a way for you. Peace gang.. time for me to crash… (y) Great gig. :-D
