I love racing. Not just asphalt or dirt or circle track or road course or sprints or late model or street stock or mini stock or fwd. I love them all. I respect them all. That FWD drivers has as much love and passion for his car as the Sprint Car driver has. Some people just dont have the funds as others so they do with what they have. I never ever bash anyone for what they drive. I try to treat people no matter what their background or ethnicity with respect. I try to treat everyone at every track I go to with respect. I always offer anything I have in my trailer or even sometimes on my car. I never steer anyone the wrong way to get a competitive edge. If they ask what I have on or in my car I tell them, because I believe to be the best you must be the best. I also believe if you dont have the best but try your best you are still a winner. With all that being said, I have seen it all and heard it all, I have been doing this myself for 32 years and I am a third generation car owner with my grandpa leading they way over 50 years ago. I retired from driving 10 years ago and just last year got back in the sport as a car owner and builder. I hurt my back and had to have a back fusion in my lumbar region. I have tried to build this business and have done pretty well doing so. The last to seasons I have offered my car to drivers to drive for me. I couldnt pay them of course, but I did take care of all the cost to keep the car up, paid for all the racing fuel and tires and drove the car to and from the track. All I ever asked from them is to get to the track, pay they own way in and supply their own personal saftey equipment, suit, gloves, helmet, shoes and neck brace. I took all the purse for the night and put every dime back into the car. I got the sponsors and they had to bring nothing to the table. Well I had some rules that I asked them to follow being I was trying to not only run a business but also keep my good reputation at the track. Ok we had some issues with the car here and there, but the car never ever finished out of the top 10 unless something broke. I had some disagreements with my drivers and the situation didnt work out between us so we parted ways. Mind you I took them to tracks they had never run before and not much experience in the class, but they had talent and did well but would have never had the opportunity otherwise. Now I am taking all the crap from everyone for letting them go. People I had a great relationship with for a long time even started to say things. It has hurt my business because things have been said and people have jumped to conclusions without knowing what has really had happened. I changed tracks from last year to hopefully start a fresh and maybe build the business. Well here we are again I found a wonderful track with a great promoter and staff and I am getting the same crap from people because I let the driver go do to reasons that are nobodys business, but the rumors started and people jump to conclusions. Like I said at the start I dont judge you so why are you judging me. You dont know the story in full. Sometimes owners and drivers dont click. I dont care if your strangers or a family member, sometimes it just dont work. I gave those drivers a good , free ride, but yet I get the crap. I just dont get it. Now I dont want to go back to the track because of all the talk. I have always treated you with respect and offered to help out. What did I do wrong here. Now here I am trying to build a business and I feel the damage has been done again. All you car owners please give me some feedback, what am I doing wrong...I am sorry if this has offended anyone its not meant for everyone, but the ones who even take the time to read this you know who you are. Owners help me out here. I build good fast cars, and give them a totally free ride, what am I doing wrong and why all the criticism for doing whats best for my business. Thanks to all who have listened, just frustrated that I build drivers up and give them a shot and when it dont work out they get the pitty and I get the crap.
