I love the number 8. Its one of my favorite numbers. Its got a song from schoolhouse rock. Its a lovely number. Followed closely by 3, but I digress. I have been given the number 8 from Tracy. So, here are 8 things about me, with the video from schoolhouse rock below. Which brings us to the list: 1) I like numbers even if I am an English major. When Im bored and dont have anything to read (like in a meeting or at jury duty) I count things and make up math problems in my head. As noted above, I love the number 8, also 3 and 9. 2) Besides wanting to be a writer, Ive also wanted to be a doctor, nurse, missionary, violinist and architect. 3) Lets pretend or as we used to say, lets say was my favorite game when I was a kid next to reading. 4) I hate walking up stairs, so I count them. I also count my steps when its going to be a long, boring walk and Im caring heavy things. Sometimes I start over at 100, sometimes I dont. 5) Even though I hate walking up stairs, I love being halfway up the stairs, probably because of the poem by A.A. Milne (allpoetry/poem/8518993-Halfway-Down-by-A.A._Milne). I do some of my best thinking when Im at the halfway spot. Ill pause and lose track of time. 6) When I was a kid, my gramma would cruise through rummage sales and thrift stores to find us stuff and once came home with a bunch of Nancy Drew books, thats how I discovered Nancy Drew. She also came home with another box another time with books from a series called, We were there when... They were kids biographies on Helen Keller, Joan of Arc, Marie Curie, Edith Cavell, and Eleanor Roosevelt, also fictionalized accounts of the Blitz over Britain and a few other things. The above are the ones I reread constantly looking for role models that fit me. 7) I like rocks - crystals usually, but all sorts of rocks. One of my favorite things as a kid was going to the rock and gem show at the armory up the street. 8 ) I anthropomorphize just about everything. And if you dont like it, tough.
