I love the tried and true, traditional things that stand the test of time. Cotton, a well made sturdy wooden table, a book you open and smile while reading, because it enriched your life in some way, feather down and wool to keep us warm. A shade tree in the summer, a good fire in the winter and fresh food simply prepared to nourish us. I mourn the loss of the traditions that are more internal and emotional, these are of a less hedonistic nature, good manners, sympathy for the less fortunate, the ability to debate ideas without being disagreeable and angry. Respect for people who are different and an appreciation for diversity.
