I love this video for so many reasons. The more atrocities I run into on the web, the more beauty I am compelled to seek and share with you my friend. PHYSICALLY, this is an amazing display of strength, coordination, and endurance!! CULTURALLY, My new friend @Roger Ben Liali had the following to say. Origin Country : Cote - dIvoire. Raw material : Bois et pigments. Height : 40cm. Ethnic Group : Gouro. Color : beautiful green and yellow patina. Djelalou Zaouli, literally translated into Guro dialect means Zaouli, Djeli daughter. The Zaouli was born in the 1950s in Guro countries (central Ivory Coast). It symbolizes the food chain, where the snake devouring a frog, and itself in turn become a prey, attacked by a bird. The Zaouli is a dance of rejoicing in which each participant must show great skill. He must reveal his talent in all its diversity, originally and quickly in the execution of steps and dance figures. The difficulty of the dancer is the fact that he has no right to repeat the same step. Alone with his audience, it engages in a genuine duel dance. There are a multitude of Zaouli masks, but each mask represents an own symbolic history. Here, it is a mask used in a ceremony of celebration dedicated to the first rains. Ethnicity Guro includes forty tribes occupying a territory located in central Ivory Coast. They are surrounded by the Bete in the west, the Gagou in the south, the Baule in the East and the Malinke in the North. The Guro are best known for the sculptors of colorful masks, statuettes, pulleys weavers and spoons
