I love when the children I nanny for help push curriculum forwards. Today one of my students was breaking bark into little pieces in the sensory table. My goal was to collect more bark and leaves that could be turned into fall confetti. I spent an hour in the park with my two charges, and we filled three huge bags with nature. At their request, H., J., and I spent our post bath time sorting all the natural items we collected in the park. Categories created were: seed pods, bark, leaves, sticks, and mulch. After a good time dumping and sorting, we split our treasures three ways. Some will be used in the classroom, and H. and J. want to create fall art next week. P.s. J.
