I made another visit to the Harare Central Prison yesterday, the 25th of January as I promised in a bid to see our fellow comrade who is behind bars for no reason but a manufactured case. I was in the company of Wisdom Matuvhunye, one of Nortons executive members. We arrived there early in the morning but we were told that the prisoners were doing their morning chores so were not allowed in for that moment. We waited. It was around half 9 when we were told to surrender our IDs to the security officers and we were then allowed to enter the premise. Just a few minutes later, we saw our comrade Chikwanda leading and giving orders to other prisioners who were coming from duty, I was impressed by his leadership skills that he acquired from CYF before his arrest. I am also happy to announce that he is also the Harare Central Prisons football Captain, the position he got through his football skills and discipline at the prison. They later dissapeared into the thick walls through a small door. We were then called in to see him, we entered and talked to him through a wiremesh. We exchanged greetings and discussed some serious issues. It was when I noted that his sentence will expire in 2017 when my heart started burning with chagrin. During our conversation, he told us that his father died last year in the course of making an appeal to the courts so as to bring his son out of the prison.I was hurt to the bones marrow. He later told us that he was given an assurance by one of the lawyers who visited him told him to look for $1 000 so that they deal with his issue and bring him out of custody. You have to know that the time Lovemore got arrested,he was just one months away from his final exams at the University of Zimbabwe and was studying towards a degree in Anthropology. Just a month before finishing his degree, he was removed from the society just because they were jelous of him, they hated him this much, its unthinkable and unbelievable. Lovemore is now more worried about his studies because the University will only allow him to write the exams he failed to write in 2011 before next year lest, he would lose all he studied. So we are appealing to all members to help us raising the $1000 so that we help him out of the prison, those not willing, never mind. WE WILL DO THE BEST WE CAN.TOGETHER WE WILL SAIL THROUGH.
