I made this video two years ago for Domestic Violence Awareness month. Later, I made it private because I felt embarrassed about sharing so much vulnerability and also because my understanding of intersectional feminism evolved since making it. However, in light of the #WhyIStayed hashtag and the surrounding discussion about victim blaming, I decided to make this public again. To share my story and remind people that, no, domestic violence survivors are not ASKING FOR IT. We are asking for our friends, family members, colleagues, and fellow global citizens to STOP ENABLING ABUSERS.
