I make it a point to regularly listen to people who are more - TopicsExpress

I make it a point to regularly listen to people who are more educated than myself...as I believe that a relevant conversation a day keeps the psychiatrist away, along with boasting other benefits. Lately my interest has been religion vs. atheism debates, and the other day I discovered Lawrence Krauss, a theoretical physicist. Frankly I believe that both sides in this long-standing argument leave out too many things, but I tend to feel where Lawrence is coming from pretty strongly in most of the conversations Ive been through thus far. Mostly I identify with his obvious frustration as he talks to faith-people, people who cannot or will not change their minds. The guy is actually kind of a jerk, lol. But even still, I like the fact that he speaks his mind, no punches pulled. People are too soft, too weak-minded and weak-willed, unable to face the tough questions from square one. The time for handling people with kid gloves is over. We have the capacity now to eradicate all life on the planet with the push of a few buttons, and this kind of power should not be in the hands of people who cant handle a little questioning of their beliefs. Lawrence and his ilk make people uncomfortable, and I pretty much approve of that in any case. The masses these days are quite obviously TOO complacent and comfortable, content to turn off critical thinking and just go along to get along so long as the internet stays up and Walking Dead keeps airing. For all his rudeness, I think that one still cannot help but see the deep humanity, compassion, wisdom and desire for a better world that Lawrence is arguing for. We need some rude smart and altruistic people to counter the rude, stupid and malevolent people.
