I make no apology for saying the Yodel are without doubt the worst - TopicsExpress

I make no apology for saying the Yodel are without doubt the worst delivery and collection company I have had the misfortune of having to deal with. My latest complaint (and forgive me, this goes on a bit!) concerns the lack of a collection. Twice. On Tuesday Yodel were supposed to make a collection from my house for a package to be returned to Dunelm. I waited in all day - no show. Today, the re-arranged collection was supposed to take place. At 08:45 I had a text to tell me the collection would be before 19:00... good news I thought... so I waited all day (including bypassing bathroom breaks to make sure I didnt miss the collection - yes, really!), only to get a text at 16:50 to tell me that the collection had been attempted... it hadnt. No door knock, no doorbell ring, no card through the door. By 16:52, I had called the help desk who phoned through to the Southampton depot and I was told that the house might have been difficult to find... The house is close to the road with a large door number. I asked the Helpdesk to call back the Southampton depot to ask the manager to call me back tonight. I was told I would get a call as soon as possible... Im still waiting. I suspect the manager had gone home and/or couldnt be bothered to call me. I was told collections are made until 19:30 - so I would have thought that in the 2.5 hours from me getting the text to collections ending, that Yodel could have got someone to my house to collect the parcel. I was then told by the Helpdesk that the manager will give the Collection Driver a map to my house tomorrow... but here is my biggest frustration... I am self employed. The fact Yodel cant give a defined time (unlike DPD for example who give a 2 hour window - no, I dont work for DPD!) for delivery or collection means I have now essentially lost 2 days of revenue as a result of having to stay at home to wait for the collections that never came. Let me ask - if someone took 2 days of your salary off you, would you be happy?! So this isnt just an inconvenience for me - this has a real impact! I reckon they really need to look at what their concept of service is. Ive now had an email telling me that my collection was attempted but because it failed it has been cancelled, so I have to rearrange again. Ive called Dunelm to let them know how crap Yodel have been, and to Dunelms credit, theyve made me a nice gesture by way of apology. I realise they ultimately pay for Yodels services, but their reputation is being affected by the couriers they use, and I suggested that they find an alternate company. Ive decided that Im going to try and boycott Yodel - any delivery I have that would be delivered by them or collected by them, then Im going to shop elsewhere. Suspect my crusade will be a bit short-lived, but they cant be trusted. Thought Id try #boycottYodel as a hashtag too... Ok - rant over. Time for a beer.
