“I may have been a small child then,” UNI student Diane Ihimbazwe said, her voice beginning to quaver. “But I will never forget the bodies. Floating in the red river.” Ihimbazwe, who survived the Rwanda genocide in 1994, will graduate from the University of Northern Iowa in May with a degree in Biology and Health Sciences. She will be the keynote student speaker at the graduation ceremony.
