I may have had university degrees but at no time did I major in Economics, this is to say that I am not an expert in Macro and Micro theories of Economics. However, with the native intelligence endowed in me I have been able to do some combination and permutation which prove that the El-dorado status of Nigeria painted by GEJ and his team of Economic sorcerers is nothing but a deliberate attempt to 419 Nigerians in the forthcoming election. It is no news that our governments at every level-Federal, States and LGAs are not finding it easy to meet their budget targets because the income from petroleum has dovetailed. That simply implies that ACWP is falling below BCWP. This is glaringly indicating that in terms of cost and time the economy of the country is performing abysmally low. If the above sounded abstract to any reader then the following would not. In 1984, Okitipupa Division and environs was the economic capital of Ondo state because it housed OOPC, Okitipupa; OGC, Okitipupa, Ore-Irele Oil Palm; Araromi-Ayesan Oil Palm; Araromi Rubber/Mitchelin; Federal Fishing Terminal Igbokoda; NNPC Depot Ore and a host of other small scale privately owned companies. We are used to having big Saw Mill, Petrol Stations and all but unfortunately some of these died before 1999 while others afterwards. From the inception of the current dispensation of democracy till date this division has been under PDP/LP save for 1999-2003 in which the Federal Government was PDP, State was AD and the division was AD and PDP. Today, all these companies are still in coma in economic sense. Not a single action of government has resuscitated them. Conversely, in 1984 there was only National Bank of Nigeria in Okitipupa. That same town today has virtually all the leading banks in Nigeria. This picture above is not restricted to Okitipupa but it is true of every community in Nigeria. So how come companies are dying or dead, jobs are lost, parents cannot pay school tuition of their wards, candidates cannot get a space in institution of higher learning and yet the government is posting fabulous results? Several petrol stations owned by a PDP big wig in Nigeria are located in Okitipupa and none of them is having fuel to sell and yet the government says all is well? Every year because of governmental ineptitude budget is never fully implemented and yet the government they are posting robust figures about economic growth and development? For 16 years of PDP we still sleep in darkness in Nigeria and the government is claiming there is growth? For 16 years, water is still not available for Nigerians to drink and the government is applauding itself? Up till now, Nigerians still go to India for headache, cold and catarrh and some people are still applauding the government? We may be blind voters but this time around I am sure we dont need Jonathan to tell us that the market has come to an end.
