I meant to clarify something for a while. I will do it today. Some people (both theists and atheists) like Shazia Nawaz keep asking why I want to be declared Muslim so badly, and why I look for their approval. Listen carefully: I do not want anyones approval of my faith, let alone the States. My faith is between me and God. What I fight is not to be declared anything, but NOT to be declared something by the State. Does the State declare a Hindu a Hindu? Does a Sunni Muslim need Pakistani State attestation or declaration to consider themselves Muslim? Then why do I have to be declared anything by the State, let alone something I do not self-identify as? Know well. What I fight are laws that persecute me for my faith, and deny me my basic freedoms, including the basic right to self identify. Do I want the State to declare me Muslim? No. Do I want the State to allow me to identify as I will? Yes Please. Know the difference. For those unaware, calling myself a Muslim in Pakistan is an offense punishable by three years jail time.
