I met Kathy a bit over 2 years ago, in Majuro, Marshall Islands - she helped organise the 350 workshop we ran with their local group Jo-Jikum. In the last few weeks I talked with her a few times as she was preparing for her address to Heads of State. Then she did it, and this is the video. Im lost for words, only have tears and joy. Just watch her poem to her daughter, Matafele Peinem. Heres an excerpt: no one’s drowning, baby no one’s moving no one’s losing their homeland no one’s gonna become a climate change refugee Or should I say No one else ... Because baby we are going to fight ... still there are those who see us hands reaching out fists raising up banners unfurling megaphones booming and we are canoes blocking coal ships we are the radiance of solar villages we are the rich clean soil of the farmers past ...
