I met a WWII, and Korean Veteran the other day. We were at the same restaurant, I excused myself from my hubby and went to say a Thank you very much Sir. I took ahold of his hand, small and frail, and said Thank you very much for all you have done for my family, not once but twice I see. He smiled and said you are correct You see I joined up in the fall of 1943, I went and did what everyone else was doing, Fought for Freedom. I left the service in 1946, I came home and bummed around for a couple years on my motorcycle, drove to Florida, love it there. Then I decided to reenlist in the Korean, and I went and fought again...we didnt win that one you know, and we havent since in my opinion, he said.. I want them to kick ass he said. His party was redy to go, and he made them wait and said I need to use the rest room..be right with you.. I said thank you again and went back to my table, Smiling all the way. A few minutes later, he came out and walked by our table, stopped and said do you want to hear an old joke.. I said OF Course we do, my hubby and I leaned in as he motioned us to come closer..he said..There once were 3 Irish women coming to the United States in the height of World War II, as they neared New York, one said Do you know, they eat dogs in America? The others gasped, shaking their heads. After they left the boat, the first thing one noticed was a Hot Dog stand, and all 3 being hungry, but trying to fit in got a hot dog, the first opened hers and said..GEE I wonder what part of the dog you got. We both LAUGHED, he had a Huge grin on his face, said have a great day and went to his party to leave. We chatted about the joke and smiled, a bit later we are at our FAV Nursery, getting a flower basket for my birthday and...who do we bump into again, OUR Veteran, he said to me..Geesch, we need to quit meeting like this, people will start to talk..
