I met a woman in Church. She was an obese older woman stuck in - TopicsExpress

I met a woman in Church. She was an obese older woman stuck in wheelchair. I watched her wheel herself to a handicap position in the row directly in front of me. I normally dont really notice whats going on around me if it isnt flashy and interesting but this time was different. Something about her drew my attention. I watched as people passed her by going about their respective business before the service started then I realized what it was. Loneliness. When all the formalities of service ended I felt the need to talk to her. I approached her and instead of trying to converse with her I asked if I could give her a hug. I watched tears break from her eyes as she whimpered yes, And when I hugged this woman and she began to cry, I felt as though I had did in that single moment all I was created to do. I sat down next to her and she told me her story. She told me about her husband addiction problems, her sons friends and her condition. I had the opportunity to pray for her and give her one last hug before I left. The smile she gave me could put a Chinese firework display to shame. I really wish I had some deep parable or lesson but today I dont, take from it what you will. Hell you can say Im full of it and a complete fraud, I dont care anymore. All I know is how that made me feel, like my life made an actual difference to somebody. That a moment of compassion gave someone hope. And I will never forget that smile as long I live.
