I met an incoming student three years ago when he first entered the college. I saw his immense potential at a time when he seemed so unsure of what he wanted to do with himself. We began to converse and he immediately shared that he had just gotten out of Jail North (the local underage jail). He wanted to connect with someone that would challenge him to do and be better. He was very young but exuded an impeccable drive for something more than what hed experienced. He began pursuing a boxing career & has been fighting (figuratively & literally) for the life he envisions. He came by my office yesterday to check on me and I couldnt be more proud of how committed he is to his personal growth! I asked him to consider going back to Jail North to encourage others that are where he once was. He agreed and signed up to begin next week!
